Last weekend, the Go-Lab Project organised together with the two projects Amgen Teach and STEM Alliance an international workshop on “Innovative Practices in Inquiry-Based Learning” in Brussels, Belgium, 3-5 June 2016. During the event, the participants were divided into two different groups: the Go-Lab group with teachers experienced in the use of Go-Lab and the Amgen Teach/STEM Alliance group with members of their respective projects and Go-Lab beginners.

On the first day of the workshop, after the introduction of each project, both groups had different sessions separately. The Go-Lab group started with several workshops about the advanced use of the Go-Lab Portal with topics like complex Inquiry Learning Spaces (ILSs), the methodology of Learning Analytics in the authoring tool Graasp or the theory of the pedagogic scenarios in the ILSs. The Amgen Teach/STEM Alliance group had simultaneously a session about “How to promote health by facilitating scientific reasoning, thinking and engagement skills” by Amgen Teach project, a Go-Lab introductory workshop on the simple creation of an ILS with online labs and apps, as well as a STEM Alliance workshop on careers in STEM and the enhancement of chemistry lessons.

On the second day, the Go-Lab group participated in the Go-Lab sustainability workshop where the participants discussed the future plans of the Go-Lab project after the official project end. In this context, the teachers were asked to share their opinion about what they value (methodology, resources, features, …) in the Go-Lab project and what they would like to be added or improved. The Amgen Teach/STEM Alliance Group had a session about online Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE) & STEM education tools.
